Sunan an-Nasa'i — The Book of Purification — Hadith No: 308

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَخَذَ طَرَفَ رِدَائِهِ فَبَصَقَ فِيهِ فَرَدَّ بَعْضَهُ عَلَى بَعْضٍ ‏.‏

Translation

It was narrated from Anas that the Prophet (ﷺ took the hem of his garment and spat on it, rubbed it together briefly and let it drop)

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ عِيَاضٍ - عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُخْرِجُ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فَأَغْسِلُهُ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ ‏.‏

It was narrated from 'Aishah:"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to put his head out of the Masjid while he was performing I'tikaf, and I would wash it, while I was menstruating
